You can be live in about fifteen minutes. Setup runs in four steps, and the dashboard walks you through them the first time you sign in.
1. Build your knowledge base from your website
Enter your website address and we crawl it (up to 25 pages), extract what your business does, and draft answers to a business questionnaire — products, hours, policies, FAQs.
Before the first crawl you'll be asked to verify you own the domain. It's a one-time step per domain: add an HTML meta tag, a small verification page, or a DNS TXT record, then click Verify. See Verifying your domain.
The crawl takes a minute or two and keeps running if you move on. When it's done, the answers are live for your chatbot and you can refine them under Knowledge → Questionnaire.
2. Style the widget
Set the assistant's name, your greeting, and your brand colour. The preview updates as you type. Everything here can be changed later under Settings → Widget.
3. Install it on your site
Copy the snippet and paste it before the closing </body> tag of your site, or
download the WordPress plugin. Details in
Installing the chat widget.
4. Take your first chat
Open your site, click the bubble, and ask a question. As an operator you'll see it in Queue if it's waiting for a person, or under AI Handled if the assistant is answering.
What should I do next?
The four highest-value things, in order:
- Fill the gaps in your questionnaire. Anything the crawl couldn't find is marked as a gap — that's exactly what your assistant can't answer yet. See The Questionnaire.
- Set your chatbot rules — tone, things it must never say, when to bring in a person. See Chatbot rules.
- Decide when a human is needed. Turn on human escalation and, if you want, escalation topics that always route to your team.
- Test it. Knowledge → Live Data has a console where you can fire real visitor questions at your knowledge base and see exactly what comes back. See Testing your knowledge base.
Can I skip setup and come back to it?
Yes. Click Skip setup for now at any point. The dashboard keeps a setup checklist on the home page showing what's still outstanding, and Resume setup picks up where you left off.
