Dutch numbers are genuinely hard to catch at speed — they are spoken units-before-tens (vierenveertig = "four-and-forty" = 44), and prices and phone numbers are grouped in ways English speakers do not expect. This quiz drills exactly that: the customer hears a number and types what they heard.
How it works
- The audio plays automatically shortly after the question appears.
- A badge shows what kind of answer is expected — NUMBER, PRICE (€) or PHONE NUMBER.
- The customer types the answer on the on-screen keypad.
- CHECK grades it; the box turns green or red, and a wrong answer reveals the correct one.
- Next moves on.
The blue speaker button replays the audio as often as needed. It pulses while playing.

The placeholder text in the entry box shows the expected format for each type ("e.g. 3,45").
The keypad
Digits 0–9, plus:

Verbie accepts several reasonable spellings of the same answer, so a price typed as 3,45 and phone number groupings with or without separators are handled. If a customer insists a correct answer was marked wrong, get the exact characters they typed and the audio they heard — see 15 – Reporting a problem.
On iPad or Mac with a physical keyboard attached, the number keys, comma, period, hyphen, Delete and Return all work directly.
Difficulty and Practice Levels
This quiz is generated, so difficulty follows Settings → Practice → Practice Levels:

A customer who finds phone numbers overwhelming should practise at A1/A2 first. A customer who says "it's all just small numbers" needs B1 or higher turned on.
Because the questions are generated rather than stored, this category does not appear in the Quiz Data table in Settings.
Timer, bookmarks and scoring
- The session is timed like any other quiz, and the timer button in the header offers Cancel Quiz.
- The bookmark icon saves the number to the Bookmarks tab, where it can be replayed later from the Number Listening section.
- Correct answers earn XP and the session counts towards the streak, as with any quiz.
Common questions
"There's no sound, so I can't answer." Tap the blue speaker button to replay. Each clip is downloaded the first time it is used, so a connection is needed for new numbers. Check the silent switch and volume too.
"I typed the right number and it said wrong." The likeliest cause is a decimal point instead of a Dutch decimal comma in a price. Ask for a screenshot of the red answer box, which shows both what they typed and the expected answer.
"The numbers are spoken too fast." Set Settings → Practice → Voice Speed to 0.75x (Slow). Trying the other voice (Arjen / Ruth) also helps some customers.
