Bookmarks
The Bookmarks tab is the customer's own collection of difficult material. Almost every screen in Verbie has a bookmark icon, and everything saved lands here.
Saving something
| Where | How |
|---|---|
| Any quiz question | The bookmark icon beside the question |
| Number Listening | The bookmark icon next to the play button |
| Sneaker Speaker | The bookmark icon at the top right, or a double-tap on the sentence from an Apple Watch |
| Vocabulary Speaker | The bookmark icon at the top right |
| Translate | The bookmark icon on the translation result card |
A filled orange bookmark means the item is saved. Tapping again removes it.
What the tab shows
Items are grouped into sections, and only sections with content appear:
- Verbs
- Adjectives
- Sneaker Speaker (sentences)
- Vocabulary Speaker (words)
- Number Listening
- Er Usage
- Prepositions
- Modal Verbs
- Separable Verbs
- Saved Translations
Each row shows the Dutch, its English meaning, and a speaker button to play the Dutch aloud. Bookmarked vocabulary words can be expanded to show Examples — example sentences, each with its own play button.
If nothing has been saved yet:
No Bookmarks Yet — Bookmark quiz words or save translations to practice them later.
Filtering
The Filter icon in the navigation bar (three lines with a down arrow) narrows the list to one type — Verbs, Adjectives, Sneaker Speaker, Vocabulary Speaker, Numbers, Er Usage, Prepositions, Modal Verbs, Separable Verbs or Translations — or back to All.
Removing items
Swipe a row from right to left and tap Delete. Removing a bookmark deletes only the saved reference; the question itself stays in the app and can come up in quizzes again.
Practising bookmarks: Bookmark Speaker
The most valuable thing to point customers towards. Quiz tab → Bookmark Speaker plays their bookmarked items aloud in a continuous loop, with the same recording and playback controls as the other Speaker activities. It turns the bookmark list into active spoken practice rather than a list to reread.
Storage and limits
- Bookmarks are stored on the device, in Verbie's own local library. Saved Translations are the exception — those live with the translation history on Verbie's servers.
- There is no practical limit on how many can be saved.
- Bookmark counts are shown in Settings → Statistics — total bookmarked words, verbs, and adjectives.
- Bookmarks are not backed up to Verbie's servers (again, Saved Translations aside). They survive app updates, and they are restored with an iCloud or encrypted local device backup, but they do not follow the customer to a fresh install on a new phone. Say this clearly if a customer is about to switch devices.
Common questions
"My bookmarks are gone." Check the Filter first — it may be set to a single type. Then check whether the app was reinstalled or the phone replaced.
"An item vanished from Bookmarks on its own." If a question was removed or reworked in a content update, its bookmark can no longer be shown. This is uncommon; worth escalating with the item's text if a customer reports several.
"Bookmark Speaker says I have nothing bookmarked." It draws on quiz and vocabulary bookmarks. Saved translations are not included, so a customer whose only saved items are translations will see that message.
