The Products catalog

Updated October 29, 2026

Knowledge → Products is a catalog of your items — part numbers, prices, categories, descriptions, and reference photos. Two things come out of it: the assistant can answer questions about your products, and (on Pro, with image understanding) it can recognise one from a photo a customer sends and quote the part number, price, and stock.

How do I add a product?

+ Add product, then fill in:

  • Name and Part number
  • Price and Category
  • Description & visual cues — how to recognise it and what it's used for. This grounds the AI's explanation, so write it for someone who has the object in their hand and doesn't know what it's called.
  • Reference photos — drag and drop, or + Add photos.

Leave Active ticked to include it in recognition and in the knowledge base. Untick it to keep the record without the assistant using it.

How many photos does a product need?

More than one, at several angles and in different lighting. That's what makes recognition reliable — a single studio shot on white doesn't help much when the customer's photo is of a greasy part on a workbench. The first photo is the primary one.

Can I bulk-load my catalog?

Yes.

  • Export downloads the catalog as CSV — and that file doubles as the import template. Export first, even if the catalog is empty, and you'll have the exact columns.
  • Import accepts .csv or .xlsx. Rows are matched by part number (or name) and upserted: existing products are updated, new ones added. You get a summary — added / updated / skipped — with the first issue called out if something didn't parse.

Photos are not part of the import. Import the metadata in bulk, then add photos by dragging them onto the products page.

What does the assistant do with this?

  • Answers questions about products from the catalog like any other knowledge.
  • On Pro, identifies an item from a visitor's photo and answers with your part number and price rather than a generic description.
  • Combined with a live tool for stock, quotes real availability rather than a number that was true when you last imported.
